Learn about the Life and Career of the Magnificent Dolly Parton!

Serving as a tribute to Dolly Parton’s roots, the Chasing Rainbows museum gives visitors an in-depth look at the famous country singer’s life, from toys, photographs, and artifacts from her childhood through present to replica models of the buildings in which she grew up.

Interactive parts of the Chasing Rainbows museum like the Videos, Wear Dolly’s Wigs, Imaginary Library, Ask Dolly, and Listening Station exhibits allow visitors to experience Dolly Parton’s vivacious personality, legendary music, and other aspects of her life as if she were right there in the room with them. Walk through Dolly’s Attic and see Dolly Parton give a video introduction into the fan-made and personal items in the room, which is designed to look like an attic. See photos of Dolly Parton with her celebrity friends in the Dolly’s Friends section. Get a glimpse of what life was like for Dolly Parton as she grew up in Sevierville nearby through the replica home cabin, bus, church, and school house that mimic her childhood surroundings.

At the Chasing Rainbows Museum you can also see artifacts like the doctor’s bag of Dr. Robert F. Thomas, who delivered Dolly Parton when she was born, as well as the coat that Dolly’s mother made for her that inspired the famous song “Coat of Many Colors.” Her early career and her time on the Cas Walker Show, the Porter Wagoner Show, and the Dolly Show are also covered in the on-site exhibits. You can even see a rotating selection of costumes from her 1980s television show and other points in her career, including movies like Steel Magnolias, 9 to 5, and others.
