Ober Gatlinburg has been open since 1962 and continues to be a favorite mountain in Tennessee some 60 plus years later. Getting to Ober Gatlinburg is extremely easy with a gondola ride located over in Downtown Gatlinburg. When you reach the top, you will be at the base of Ober Gatlinburg where additional ski lifts can take you to the slopes you want to enjoy. Ober Gatlinburg features 11 different trails that include two beginner trails, six intermediate trails, and even three black diamond or advanced slopes. Having this many options will allow everyone in the family to enjoy their skiing experience.
When to Hit the Slopes
We are already into the 2024-2025 ski season here in Gatlinburg. Ober Gatlinburg’s opening day was on November 23rd. This is one of the earlier start dates in recent years, allowing us to enjoy a longer than usual ski season. Ober Gatlinburg will continue to see snowfall all throughout the winter season, but you will find that January and February are typically the best months for skiing. The snowfall averages around two or more inches each month in this timeframe allowing you to experience fresh powder on the slopes. Ober Gatlinburg is also prepared in case snowfall ends up being shorter than expected, as they are able to create their own snow.
