Visit in the Off Season

One of the best ways to save on the overall cost of a trip to somewhere like Gatlinburg is to consider visiting in the off season. You will find the months of January through March and September through November to be our off seasons. These months typically feature fewer crowds and overall lower costs that other times of the year. Gatlinburg is a destination that features many outdoor activities, and the off season can be a great time to enjoy them.

If you visit in the fall off season, you will find mild temperatures that make it easy to stay outside for long periods of time. You cannot beat free activities such as hiking that will take you to beautiful areas with sweeping vistas. Local parks offer cheap rates to enter too. Local attractions typically offer discounted rates to take advantage of the slower season. Plus, you will have a great variety of rentals to choose from in our selection.

The spring season can be on the cold side but should not discourage you from visiting. Outdoor activities will be available but may be muddy, so make sure to pack the proper boots and outdoor gear. Keep in mind that there are some times during the spring off season that can see an increase of prices and people visiting. Specifically, you will find this over Valentine’s Day and Spring Break, when students and families are visiting. Outside of these times the spring is a relatively quiet and cheaper time of year.

Budget Ahead for Peak Season Visits

Visiting during the off season is not your only option to budget ahead for your Gatlinburg trip. The area will see its peak season during the summer, fall, and holidays. The summer is always popular with families visiting while the children are on summer break so they can take advantage of a longer trip. The summer season also features plenty of exciting festivals and activities that are exclusive to this time of year. With the increased traffic, you will find the area to be more expensive this time of year.

A great way to budget is to travel with extended family and reserve one of our larger vacation rentals that will be more cost effective than individual hotel rooms. The early fall season is also popular due to the fall foliage coming out of hiding. If you visit during this time you can always enjoy free activities to such as leaf peeping and visit local orchards. The winter season can see an increase in traffic especially right around the holidays. Gatlinburg is also home to Ober Gatlinburg, where you can find incredible skiing and snowboarding. If you plan on visiting Ober Gatlinburg, you can save on your visit to the slopes by bringing your own ski and snowboard gear. Also take advantage of free activities such as taking your children sledding or tubing at local hills.

Getting to Gatlinburg is always an important aspect to consider in your budget. If you live just a few hours away from Gatlinburg, driving will be the best option for you.
