Gatlinburg 4th of July Events
Every year, Gatlinburg holds an Independence Day Celebration that can’t be beaten. There is a raft regatta on the Little Pigeon River. Anyone can participate as long as they make their own raft. There are fireworks displays at both Patriot Park in Pigeon Forge and starting at 11pm, they launch fireworks from the top of the Gatlinburg Space Needle. Perhaps the best place to watch the Space Needle fireworks is from the world-famous Gatlinburg SkyBridge. Be sure to get your tickets for the SkyBridge early because this event sells out fast. In fact, why not spend the afternoon at the SkyBridge, where the views are amazing. The entire town of Pigeon Forge will be covered in festive red, white, and blue for their Fourth of July celebrations. You can count on plenty of live music, great food, and fun games for the entire family at their Patriot Festival. This day-long festival takes place in Patriot Park, which is dedicated to local area veterans. Your entire family can spend the entire day in Dollywood, enjoying the Summer Celebration, live music, traditional arts and crafts, waterpark, amusement park and more before the fireworks. For even more fun, make sure you get to town a few days early, so you can enjoy all the celebrations. Gatlinburg starts off their Fourth of July celebrations a little ahead of everyone else with their Midnight Parade. This parade tradition began back in 1975 and is just getting bigger every year. The fun starts around midnight, give or take, on July 3, and stretches for over a mile, with floats, balloons, and of course fireworks at the end of the parade. If you’re looking for something more than fireworks and parades, there is the annual Gatlinburg River Raft Regatta on the Little Pigeon River. This fun, family event has become pretty popular and pretty competitive over the years as the river is filled with unmanned floatables from the former Christ in the Smokies Museum down to Ripley’s Aquarium plaza. Don’t have a floatable? Don’t worry. You can rent a cute rubber ducky (or bring your own) to enter in the race.
