Riding the Coaster
Your adventure begins with an uphill lift that takes you to the top of the mountain. As the lift brings you to the top, you’ll be surrounded by panoramic views of the woods and countryside of the Smokies. Once you reach the top, get ready for an exciting ride downhill on the coaster! It’s a thrilling ride with twists, turns and dips that will get your adrenaline pumping! If you need to slow down, your coaster car features brakes that allow you to ride at your own pace and remain in control of your speed.
The Gatlinburg Moonshine Mountain Coaster is a family-friendly activity for kids and grown-ups alike. Safety is a top priority at the Moonshine Mountain Coaster, so there are certain requirements that must be met before you’re able to ride. To ride the coaster, you must be at least 3 years old and 38” tall. The person driving the coaster cart must be at least 16 years old to ride with a passenger, or 56” tall to ride alone. However, there is no age requirement to ride alone as long as you meet the height requirement! Parents and children can ride together, bonding as they make their way through the forest.
The coaster is open year-round, weather permitting, and the hours are from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. Tickets for the Moonshine Mountain Coaster can be purchased online! For local, military and service discounts you must visit the ticket window at the park and show valid ID and proof of employment. Group rates can also be purchased, if you happen to be visiting the coaster with a minimum of 20 people.
