The Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage

Going strong for 69 years, The Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage is an annual event that has the beautiful Great Smoky Mountain National Park as the backdrop. On this pilgrimage you’ll get to experience exhibits, guided walks and an array of other informative learning experiences. This pilgrimage is quite popular with the nature lovers with people coming from all over the United States as well as other countries to learn all they can about the park and the various ecosystems, wildlife, plants and other entities that exist together in this natural landscape.

 

Wildflower Tours

These tours showcase the abundant varieties of Tennessee wildflowers, plants, ferns, mosses, trees and shrubs, as well as birds, reptiles and amphibians, all native to the Great Smoky Mountains. Our programs included fungi, ferns, wildflowers, trees and shrubs, medicinal plants, insects (terrestrial and aquatic), salamanders and snakes, birds, mammals (bats to bears), journaling, art and photography, and park history.

The Wildflower Pilgrimage encompasses over 150 programs that cover an array of instructional and guided walking and hiking tours. These tours vary in walking and hiking ability, so you can choose the experience that is best for you. The tours are comprehensive and focus on the various plants and shrubbery as well as the wildlife that live in and are native to the Great Smoky Mountains. You can choose from an array of programs from the plant-centered wildflowers or medicinal plants to birds, insects. You also have the option of choosing programs that focus on the history of the park or capturing the beauty of the park through photography, writing or art.

Tours are on schedule-rain or shine. There are in-door activities available for those that want to avoid the inclement weather. The Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage is accommodating to everyone with tours available for all ages and fitness levels.

 

Classes & Workshops

Learn more about the natural environment through the Great Smoky Mountain Park and apply what you’ve learned. Perhaps you want to draw or paint nature. Maybe you would like to learn more about medicinal plants or pressing flowers for personal use. The Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage offers a number of workshops for you to learn more about nature in the manner that you desire.
