Oktoberfest at Ober

Everyone loves Oktoberfest! Besides lots and lots of beer, you’re allowed to eat as much bratwurst and fat pretzels dripping with mustard as you can. It’s time for lederhosen, dirndls, and polkas. If you’re in town in October, head to Ober Gatlinburg for the annual Oktoberfest in Gatlinburg.

Oktoberfest in Gatlinburg

This year, the festival takes place from September 23 through October 30. For an entire month, Ober Gatlinburg will turn itself into a Bavarian getaway, teeming with Germanic hospitality, food, and of course, beer. Outdoor vendors will be selling a variety of Oktoberfest souvenirs, gifts, and more. This is the time to get that authentic Bavarian beer stein you’ve been wanting.

The Outdoor Bier Garten will be overflowing with authentic German cuisine, beer, and live music from the lederhosen-wearing Smoky Mountain Oompah Band. Get ready for all the oompah and yodeling you can handle. The band performs daily at 1 pm, 3 pm, and 5 pm. Get there early, because these popular concerts fill up fast. The Bier Garten is open Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 5 pm, on Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm, and on Sunday from 12 pm to 5 pm.

For the entire Oktoberfest festival, Ober Gatlinburg’s Seasons of Ober Restaurant’s menu goes Bavarian with cuisine found in traditional Bavarian festivals. Popular menu items include Bavarian pretzels with mustard and cheese, Schnitzel, and of course Bratwurst with sauerkraut. Or, just get a little of everything and order the Bavarian Platte. And don’t forget to leave room for the Kirschtorte!

Ober Gatlinburg

Tennessee’s only ski resort, Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area are open year-round with plenty of fun family activities. In colder months, enjoy skiing, ice skating, ice bumper cars, and more. In warmer months, there’s the Alpine Slide, Wildlife Encounters, the Amaze’n Maze, mini-golf, summer tubing, and more.

If you don’t do anything else while you’re here, take the Aerial Tramway to Mountaintop Park. The panoramic views, especially in the fall, are breathtaking! The tram leaves from downtown Gatlinburg and heads right to Ober.
