Many exciting attractions nearby will help provide historical knowledge and fun alike! Here is how you can discover the historical side of Gatlinburg:

Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum

Gatlinburg is full of unique attractions, and the Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum is one of them. As you can tell, this museum is a dedication to all things salt and pepper shakers! The owners have amassed their collection for over 30 years, bringing together an exciting collection found nowhere else. Children will love seeing some of their favorite mascots be made into cute salt and pepper shakers spread out around the thousands you will be able to see. You can find the Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum at 461 Brookside Village Way and is open daily from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Historic Ogle Log Cabin

Gatlinburg is a historic town that has been operating since the 1800s. It’s first settler was William Ogle, who built Gatlinburg’s first cabin in the area. The Historic Ogle Log Cabin is still standing to this day. The cabin is believed to have been built in 1802 and was designated a historic landmark in 1986. The full home is still standing to this day and is a great way to view the roots of the city. After you are done looking at the cabin, take one of the nearby hiking trails that will take you down to a local creek. Visiting the Historic Ogle Log Cabin is free, but we recommend getting there early as parking can fill up quickly.

Alfred Reagan Tub Mill

Gatlinburg’s creeks and rivers were used for several mills back in the day. The Alfred Reagan House and Tub Mill is still open for visitors. This mill was used to create cornmeal to feed the locals. Most of the mill can still be viewed and is also surrounded by beautiful scenery.
