Plan a Journey to Enjoy Winter in Pigeon Forge

Winter is a wonderful time to visit Pigeon Forge, but if you’ve never visited before, you may not know what to do with your time here. We’ve put together a helpful guide to help you plan an exciting journey to enjoy winter in Pigeon Forge; read on to learn how you can make the most of a three-day escape in this area!

Day 1

You have just rolled into Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and you are wondering what to do first. Before you head up to your gorgeous vacation home from The Cabin Rental Store, you will want to fuel up with a good breakfast. There are a lot of great places to eat, but you want to start off with the very best. Crockett’s Breakfast Camp is one of the most iconic restaurants in Gatlinburg. You cannot miss the giant frying pan that beckons hungry tourists from the road. The earlier you get there the better, because it is one of the most popular places in town. They are famous for their griddle cakes which come in many varieties. Be sure to try the pecan or blueberry flavors when you are there. They also have giant omelets that are served with crispy and delicious potatoes.

After breakfast, you can head up to your cabin. When you walk through the doors, you will find a living room with a fireplace where you can sit and warm yourself as you plan your day. The bedrooms all have comfortable beds and blackout shades so you can get a good night’s sleep, and the bathrooms are clean and have such features as sunken tubs and dual sinks. Once you get settled in and freshen up a bit, it is time to go out for a hike. There are a few places that are safe to hike in the winter, just be sure to bring trekking poles and shoes with good traction.

The Laurel Falls hiking trail is one of the most popular in the Pigeon Forge area. It is only 2.3 miles round-trip, and it takes you up to the top of the beautiful falls where you will see some interesting frozen water formations. In addition to seeing the falls, you will have a great view of the beautiful mountain ranges. If you want a hike that is a bit more challenging, you can take a walk up to Rainbow Falls. It is an 80-foot climb to the top where you will see some very long ice formations. The trail is about 2.7 miles long.

After your day of hiking, it’s time for a little dinner. You want to try something special because you are on vacation. Indian food and Funnel Cakes, located at 745 Parkway Ste. #3, Gatlinburg, TN 37738, offers a unique combination of exotic Asian food and southern cooking.

Day 2

You may not want to get out of the unbelievably comfortable bed in your cabin. However, there are plenty of Pigeon Forge things to do in Winter you won’t want to miss in town. The people of the Smoky Mountains are hardly known for their delicate sensibilities. Muscle cars are popular here, and the Hollywood Star Car Museum, located at 914 Parkway in Gatlinburg, features some of Hollywood’s most famous automobiles. You will see the Batmobile from the 1966 television show. You will also see General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard. You will learn a bit about the history of each vehicle and the people who’ve driven them.

There is a Ripley’s Believe It or Not in many cities, but one of the best is right here in the Gateway to the Smokies. When you visit the newly remodeled museum, you will find that the Odditorium features shrunken heads and 16 theme galleries. You will see such things as a vampire killing kit and a traditional iron maiden.

For dinner, you can dine at one of many of the area’s fine restaurants. The Melting Pot offers delicious fondues, salads, and desserts. The Cherokee Grill offers American cuisine in an elegant atmosphere. The Wild Plum Tea Room is the best option for vegetarians.

Day 3

It is your last day in town and you want to enjoy some great local cuisine and do a little shopping. After you have breakfast and a morning swim at your amazing cabin, you can hit the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Trail. It is 8 miles long, and many artists have galleries and shops. You can find the perfect gift to take home to that oh so hard to shop for friend or find the perfect rug, basket, or pot for your house. You may even see an artist or two at work who will share some tips with you. After you are done shopping, it is time to enjoy another fabulous meal.

You will not want to leave town without trying Split Rail Eats first. You will find plenty of fried goodness here including cheese curds and Southern fried pickles. They have hearty sandwiches, soups, and wraps. Be sure to enjoy the banana pudding for dessert.
