Crafts Part of the Local Culture

When it comes to crafts, in Gatlinburg, it is a way of life. The need for crafting began because locals were not able to access big cities to purchase the items that they needed or wanted. To remedy this, many begin making their own items. From weaved baskets to hand-sewn aprons and hand-carved utensils made from wood, crafting was and still is a way of life adopted to fill a void for a lack of access to certain resources. Today, the craft culture continues as Gatlinburg is home to a thriving arts and crafts community.
